An American Burns His Mother's House While Trying to Evict Him and Nearly Kills Her

On April 9, 2026, in Jonesborough, Tennessee, Dustin Machen, 32, was arrested after setting his mother's house on fire following a dispute over his eviction. He allegedly doused his mother with gasoline and ignited the house, preventing her from calling for help by destroying her phone. The victim managed to escape and was hospitalized with burns on her arms. Machen is currently in custody without bail, facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated arson.
