Indonesia arrests officials in crackdown on corruption

Indonesian authorities arrested Deputy Minister for Immigration Affairs Silmy Karim over alleged irregularities in immigration document administration from 2023 to 2024. The KPK also identified seven other suspects in the case. The day before, former head of the National Nutrition Agency Dadan Hindayana was arrested on corruption charges related to a free-meals programme. Two more suspects were also arrested in that case, and the government expressed concern over the events.
