Trump names Stephen Miller as new chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles

Donald Trump announced on Friday that Stephen Miller, his deputy chief of staff and the architect of his hard-line immigration policy, will replace Susie Wiles as chief of staff starting Monday. Trump praised Wiles’s work and said she would move to the “Trump Political Operation.” Wiles submitted her resignation on Thursday night and, after recently announcing she was in remission from cancer, said her commitment to Trump and his mission would continue. The change follows major Republican defeats in the 2026 midterm elections, which cost the party control of both chambers of Congress.
