Drop in maize prices in Niakara: producers under pressure

Since April 8, 2026, the price of a kilogram of maize in Niakara has dropped to between 100 and 110 CFA francs, an unusually low level for this time of year. Producers, such as Seydou Koné and Dokporo Soro, express their concern over this price drop, which typically reaches 200 CFA francs in April. The absence of foreign buyers, particularly from Mali and Burkina Faso, contributes to this challenging situation, while agricultural production has increased due to initiatives from the Ministry of Agriculture.
