SAFA to pay Jordaan’s legal bills as he faces theft, fraud and corruption charges
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has agreed to pay the legal bills of its president, Danny Jordaan, and chief financial officer Gronie Hluyo in a case before Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court. Jordaan, Hluyo, former SAFA CEO Russell Paul and Grit Communications director Trevor Neethling face allegations of theft, fraud and corruption. SAFA says it never lodged a complaint and that the complainants are former executive committee members and employees acting in their personal capacities. The federation plans to submit a statement disputing wrongdoing, appoint an attorney and senior counsel to monitor proceedings, and act against people who damage its reputation.
