Germany: More than 421,000 AfD party emails leaked after cyberattack

The AfD said a September 2026 cyberattack on a party hosting provider led to the illegal copying of data from some email accounts, many of which had not been used for years. Bild estimates that more than 421,000 emails were affected; a website published summaries, which the party says are under investigation. Bild reported that emails sent by co-chair Alice Weidel and a photo of an AfD member of the Bundestag’s identity card were disclosed. Polling at about 30% nationally, the AfD recently won elections in two German states and hopes to form a regional government in Saxony-Anhalt.
