KRA Seizes 52 Phones and Three Drones in JKIA Customs Operation

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) seized 52 refurbished phones and three drones at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after customs officers stopped an airport cleaner carrying two backpacks. The cleaner said a female passenger had asked her to carry the bags through the customs area; officers later questioned both women and inspected the luggage. The seized items included two DJI Mini 3 Pro drones and one DJI Air 25, along with accessories, and are being held at a customs warehouse pending further action. KRA reminded travellers that drone imports into Kenya require authorisation from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
