Plantations du Haut Penja (PHP), Cameroon's leading banana producer, exported only 9,207 tonnes in May 2026, according to Assobacam. This is the lowest volume since January 2026, after starting the year at 20,037 tonnes. The gradual decline coincides with the dry season, which reduces agricultural yields. PHP is a subsidiary of French group Compagnie fruitière de Marseille, which controls about 80% of the Cameroonian banana market.
