Bandits, Kidnappers, Sponsors of Terror: Surrender or face full force of State, Tinubu warns

President Bola Tinubu issued a stern warning to bandits, kidnappers, and terrorism sponsors in his Democracy Day address, urging them to surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian state. He expressed concern over the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo and Borno states and declared a security emergency, approving the recruitment of over 50,000 police officers and thousands of military personnel. The 2026 budget allocates N5.41 trillion to defence and security, the largest such allocation in Nigeria's history.
