Congo Basin: Forests Destroyed by Overlapping Human Activities

Earth Day emphasized the need to protect ecosystems, particularly in the Congo Basin. In Congo-Brazzaville, the Mayombe and Chaillu forest masses are under pressure from overlapping land uses. Mining projects, such as Ntombo and Zibati, are affecting the Ntombo Forest Management Unit, impacting 58,292 hectares, or 51.1% of its total area.
