President William Ruto announced that the Kenyan government has allocated Ksh 7.5 billion for the construction of 3,000 housing units in Lamu to support workers for the Dangote refinery project. The refinery, valued at Ksh 2.2 trillion, has begun construction and is expected to create around 60,000 jobs. Ruto also outlined additional housing initiatives, including Ksh 6 billion for affordable housing, markets, and hostels in the area.
