Belarus eyes Western ties as it frees journalist Andrzej Poczobut

Polish-Belarusian journalist Andrzej Poczobut has been released as part of a prisoner exchange with Poland, an initiative that may improve Belarus's relations with the West. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed the release, which also included other prisoners, including a Polish priest. Poczobut was imprisoned in 2021 and sentenced to eight years in a labor camp in a trial widely criticized as politically motivated by rights groups.
