Benin: Police Officers Sentenced to Up to Seven Years in Prison in the Fayçal Ouorou Case

The Parakou Court of First Instance sentenced six police officers to prison terms ranging from two months to seven years for their involvement in the death of Fayçal Samba Gani Ouorou, which occurred in November 2024. Testimonies revealed police violence, and the victim's family requested 100 million CFA francs in damages. The prosecution had sought up to ten years of imprisonment for some defendants, while the court also ordered a fine of five million CFA francs.
