Benin: Ministry of Justice denounces scam around presidential pardon

Benin's Ministry of Justice has warned against scammers demanding money from prisoners or their relatives by promising inclusion on a supposed list for presidential pardon or sentence modification. These illegal practices include impersonating magistrates. The ministry states that no payment can be required and only legal criteria are considered. Legal proceedings have been ordered against the perpetrators.
