Benin: The Democrats in extraordinary national council next Saturday

The opposition party Les Démocrates will hold an extraordinary national council on April 4, 2026, in Cotonou to resolve a legitimacy crisis between Nourénou Atchadé and Eric Houndété. The meeting will also address sanctions against several officials, including Houndété, for supporting a rival duo. Additionally, nominations for vacant positions within the national coordination will be discussed to stabilize the party.
