Maniema: Over 500 Houses Destroyed After Torrential Rain in Salamabila

A heavy rain accompanied by strong winds caused significant damage in Salamabila, Kabambare territory (Maniema), on September 30, 2026. Over 500 houses were destroyed or damaged, leaving many families homeless, with several schools, churches, and public buildings also affected. The Salamabila civil society calls for urgent intervention by authorities and humanitarian organizations to assist the victims, many of whom spent the night outdoors without shelter or resources.
