Acting Minister of Lands and Agriculture Dr Edwin Dikoloti revealed that the recent Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak at the Ramatlabama Artificial Insemination Training Centre is suspected to have been spread through human activity. Preliminary investigations indicated that the disease was likely introduced through contaminated clothing or equipment. The outbreak has triggered strict livestock movement restrictions and the closure of the Botswana Meat Commission, negatively affecting its operations.
