Robbery of Chinese: A journalist and a former police officer involved, 70 million taken

On April 14, the criminal chamber of Dakar examined the case of the robbery at the store of Chinese national Ai Minghui, which occurred in July 2020. Four defendants, including M. Gassama, a former police officer, and M. B. Thiam, a journalist, were tried for armed robbery and impersonation. The armed assailants stole 70 million FCFA and mobile phones after forcing their way into the store while posing as police officers. The investigation revealed a structured organization involving several accomplices.
