Britam Disburses Ksh97.3 Million to Cushion Farmers and Pastoralists From Climate Risks

Britam paid out Ksh97.3 million in 2025 to over 400,000 farmers and pastoralists in East Africa to help them recover from climate shocks. The insurer uses parametric insurance solutions based on satellite data. Crop insurance claims rose by 83% in one year, and 107,882 pastoralists were covered for livestock. CEO Tom Gitogo emphasized the company's commitment to supporting vulnerable communities amid growing climate risks.

Abia govt warns residents against possible flooding, reactivates emergency committees
