The Nigerian Federal Government announced that its renewed Digital Switch-Over (DSO) project will provide at least 40 million households with access to 100 free-to-air TV channels. NBC Director-General Charles Ebuebu revealed that the new strategy abandons terrestrial transmission in favor of a satellite platform, covering the entire country from day one. Over 73 channels are already broadcasting, with a target of 100 channels in the coming months. NIGCOMSAT is providing satellite services for the project.
