Bungoma County Secretary Faces Possible Criminal Action Over Road Project Records

The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) has ordered the Bungoma County Government to release records on road projects in Maraka and Sitikho wards within 21 days. The directive follows an application by the Voice of Bungoma Consortia of Civil Society Organisations, comprising 75 groups. Failure to comply may result in criminal prosecution of the County Secretary under Section 28 of the Access to Information Act, 2016. The CAJ ruled that the requested information is public and not exempt from disclosure.
