Burkina Faso: Nearly 1,400 talibés removed from the streets of Ouagadougou in a major anti-begging operation

The Ministry of Family and Solidarity announced that 1,911 people begging in Ouagadougou were taken into care between June 24 and July 3, 2026, including 1,396 minors and 1,046 talibés. The operation, carried out with the Laabal Brigade and the National Police, directed beneficiaries to specialized structures for social care and reintegration. Burkinabe authorities call for collective mobilization to sustainably combat child begging.
