Praise Aloikin Opoloje has been detained since September 26, 2026, and charged with using a SIM card registered in her mother’s name for illegal activity. She says her arrest followed a video in which she declared she was not afraid of Uganda’s military chief, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni. Opoloje alleges that she was lured to a police station on a false pretext, then abducted and mistreated by six men; her account could not be independently verified. She says she will continue speaking out about the country if she is released.
