State police will improve Nigeria’s security - Barau

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin said creating state police is an important step towards improving security across Nigeria. Speaking on Radio Nigeria Kaduna, he stated the bill was passed after wide consultations with the Presidency, National Assembly, and other stakeholders. Barau noted the President retains power to intervene if state police is misused, while federal police will handle national threats like terrorism. He urged Nigerians to support the reform, calling it a well-considered and consultative move that brings policing closer to the people.
