The Bank of Central African States (BEAC) has suspended refinancing operations for medium-term loans intended to support investment in the productive sector. The decision was taken during the Monetary Policy Committee meeting on April 2, 2026 in Yaoundé after a heated debate. The suspension is temporary to modernize the mechanism, but already submitted files are still being processed. Governor Yvon Sana Bangui had already announced a reform of the special refinancing window in September 2025.
