Chad: at least 42 dead in clashes over a water point

At least 42 people were killed in eastern Chad following clashes between two families over a water point. Deputy Prime Minister Limane Mahamat stated that the violence required military intervention to contain the situation. A customary mediation process and judicial procedures will be initiated to determine accountability. Intercommunal clashes over resources are common in the country.
