Citadels of fear: Insecurity, uncertainty grip Ogun students' community

Students at Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State, live in constant fear of armed robberies, kidnappings, and sexual violence. According to a student, criminals use victims as bait to access other doors. The institution recorded at least 105 robbery incidents with 21 deaths from 2009 to 2026. In May 2026, five students were kidnapped on Isara-Ode road after mistaking kidnappers for police officers.
