Mobondo phenomenon: displaced women benefit from a bakery on the Batéké Plateau

The government provided a bakery to displaced women from the provinces of Kwilu, Kwango, and Mai-Ndombe following the Mobondo militia crisis. The facility, with a capacity of 20 bags of 50 kg per day, was inaugurated on June 5, 2026 by Human Rights Minister Samuel Mbemba on the Batéké Plateau, Kinshasa. The first production will be distributed free to the women victims to serve as working capital for their socio-economic empowerment. The project received logistical and financial support from Japan, the UN Joint Human Rights Office, and the NGO AFLA.
