Who is Stephen Miller, Trump’s new White House chief of staff?

Donald Trump has tapped longtime adviser Stephen Miller to become White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles on Monday. The appointment, announced after Republicans’ heavy midterm losses, signals a continued commitment to Trump’s controversial policies; Democrats, who take control of Congress in January, are expected to investigate Miller’s role. The 41-year-old is one of Trump’s most vocal defenders and is widely regarded as an architect of the administration’s mass deportation campaign. Before joining Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Miller was a conservative activist at Santa Monica High School and Duke University, then worked for Republican members of Congress and Senator Jeff Sessions.
