Court remands six over alleged murder of Ebonyi traditional ruler

A Magistrate Court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has remanded six individuals over the alleged murder of HRH Eze Josephat Ikegwu, the traditional ruler of Isinkwo Autonomous Community. The defendants, including Ucha Johnson and Ogobuchi Igwe, face charges of conspiracy, murder, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms, having allegedly killed the monarch at his residence on April 1, 2026. The case has been adjourned until June 10, 2026, with the defendants ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
