An estimated six million people in Somalia are facing high levels of acute food insecurity through June, according to the IPC report. The situation has worsened due to recurring drought, conflict, and rising costs, with nearly 1.88 million children expected to require treatment for acute malnutrition in 2026. The Burhakaba district in the Bay region is experiencing extremely critical levels of malnutrition, with imminent famine risks.
