Ogboinbiri crisis: Diri sacks paramount ruler, chiefs

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State dismissed the paramount ruler of Ogboinbiri Community, Chief Okosughe Eseimokumo, following violent disputes that resulted in at least one death and arson attacks. Diri also dissolved the community's council of chiefs and ordered the formation of an interim governing committee. He expressed frustration over recurring conflicts in oil-producing communities, noting that residents are fighting over trivial resources compared to the vast revenues extracted by oil companies.
