The Nigeria Customs Service recorded a total seizure of 15,212 bags of smuggled rice valued at over N907.78 million in the first quarter of 2026. Statistics show that 286 rice seizure cases were recorded between January and March 2026, with monthly fluctuations. In February, seizures peaked at 6,301 bags, a 56.5% increase from January, while in March, the volume dropped to 4,884 bags.
