Terrorism: Benin Calls for Accelerated Intelligence Sharing Among African States at the UN

On September 24 in New York, Benin's Foreign Minister Corinne Amori Brunet called for faster intelligence sharing among African countries during a ministerial session of the African Union Peace and Security Council, held alongside the 81st UN General Assembly. She emphasized that delays in information exchange and coordination gaps could be exploited by armed groups, stressing the need for cooperation between states even amid diplomatic tensions, especially in border areas. The security situation in Africa remains alarming, with the Sahel region being the epicenter of global jihadist threats, accounting for over half of the world's terrorism victims in 2025.
