NAF aircraft crash: Cockpit voice recorder recovered as investigation continues

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recovered the cockpit voice recorder from the ATR-42 that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State. NAF and Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) technical teams confirmed that it was intact; parts of the flight data recorder were also retrieved, and the search for its remaining portion continues. Additional wreckage, engine components and human remains have been recovered from the challenging swamp terrain. The NAF says technical examinations, victim identification procedures, support for families and discussions with authorities about the host community’s environmental concerns are ongoing.

The organization urged the road maintenance contractor and provincial authorities to take urgent steps to maintain the route and rehabilitate the most damaged structures. The contractor blamed delays on insecurity linked to ADF attacks but said machinery is already on site to continue maintenance and rehabilitation work.
