Attack on Niger's airport: first details

Niamey's Diori Hamani International Airport was targeted in a terrorist attack attempt on June 18, 2026. An armed group opened fire on police, but security forces quickly neutralized some of the attackers. Airport access was restricted and flights disrupted. The incident comes less than five months after a previous attack on the same airport in January 2026.
