UAE announces social media ban for under-15s

The United Arab Emirates announced a social media ban for children under 15 on June 18, 2026. Social media platforms must monitor and disable accounts of under-15s within a 12-month transition period or risk being blocked. The cabinet resolution prohibits children under 15 from creating or using personal accounts and from accessing interactive features. Media and telecommunications authorities can impose penalties, including partial or full blocking of platforms.
