Benin: Cotonou bans markets, demonstrations, and drinking establishments on election day

The Cotonou municipality announced restrictions for the presidential election on April 12, 2026, banning public demonstrations, closing markets, and suspending the activities of drinking establishments from 6 AM to 8 PM. These measures aim to prevent public disorder and ensure a conducive environment for voting.
