Somalia: Return of Pirate Attacks, Maritime Threat Level Raised

The maritime threat level off the coast of Somalia has been raised to 'important' by JMIC following several recent pirate attacks. A pirate group appears to be active in the Somali basin, with the takeover of a cargo ship six nautical miles from the port of Garacad. The British maritime security agency UKMTO also reported the hijacking of a tanker on April 21 and attempted attacks on a cargo ship on April 23.
