Benin: In Nikki, the Gaani Celebrates the History and Unity of the Northern Peoples

In Nikki, northern Benin, thousands participate in the Gaani celebrations, a traditional festival honoring the Baatonu, Boo, and Waasangari peoples. The King of Nikki is present, and according to Prince Sime, a cultural mediator, these communities are divided into two clans: the indigenous Baatonu and the Waasangari, who come from elsewhere.
