Lawyer Onyedikachi Ifedi stated that the trial court acted like a tribunal determined to convict Nnamdi Kanu at all costs, bypassing constitutional law. Kanu’s family and lawyers accused the Nigerian government of fleeing the courtroom after the prosecution refused to respond to the appeal. The Indigenous People of Biafra threatened to boycott the 2027 elections in the South-East and other Biafra territories if the appeal is not scheduled for hearing. The lawyer criticized the court for convicting Kanu under a dead law, the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, instead of the law in force at the time of conviction.
