Ebola: NCDC to Pay Contacts in Isolation 100,000 Naira Weekly

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has approved emergency payments of 100,000 naira per person each week for people isolated or quarantined as part of the Ebola response in the Federal Capital Territory. Director-General Dr Jide Idris announced the measure in Abuja on Sunday, citing concerns from contacts about paying for food, accommodation and family needs while under monitoring. The support was not part of the original response plan and is intended to ease financial strain and encourage cooperation with health officials. Idris also urged state governments to prepare financially and logistically for public health emergencies.
