Girls now outperform boys in education in many parts of the world, yet men enjoy a 21% advantage in expected earnings. The Human Capital Index Plus (HCI+) reveals that this gender gap is primarily due to differences in employment and work experience, with women having a total HCI+ score that is 19 points lower. In South Asia, on-the-job learning alone accounts for 98% of the gender gap.
