Clashes between 'shegué' gangs cause panic and population displacement in Kolwezi

For several days, clashes with bladed weapons between gangs of idle youths, known as 'shegués', have terrorized the Bel Air 2 neighborhood of Kolwezi (Lualaba). The violence, accompanied by looting, has forced many residents to flee their homes to the Dilungu quarter. A member of the Congolese National Police is among the injured. Residents are appealing to the authorities to restore public order.
