A kidnap victim, Fabian Akubobi, has alleged that armed herdsmen operate from a hideout they call 'Sambisa Forest' in Benue South, Nigeria. Akubobi was abducted on May 22, 2026, at a police checkpoint near Ojano in Otukpo Local Government Area. He spent six days in captivity, and his captors demanded a ransom of 10 million naira, but he was released after his brother paid 1 million naira.
