Record animal sacrifice attempts at Al-Aqsa prompt status quo fears

Israeli settlers made seven attempts to smuggle animal sacrifices into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during this year's Jewish Passover festival, the highest number documented since the beginning of the Israeli occupation in 1967. The Palestinian Authority's Jerusalem Governorate reported that these provocations occurred while Israeli authorities had sealed off the site for 40 days. However, the mosque reopened on Thursday morning, allowing worshippers to gather after the restrictions were lifted.
