Desiree Ellis springs surprises as Banyana Banyana unveil WAFCON squad

Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis has named a 26-player squad for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Midfielder Sibulele Holweni is the most notable omission. Defender Antonia Maponya of the University of the Western Cape has made the cut. The team will have to cope without forward Jermaine Seoposenwe, but Thembi Kgatlana is included.
