Strait of Hormuz: Macron and the UK Prepare an Initiative to Save Trade

Emmanuel Macron announced the organization of a Franco-British conference to create an international naval coalition aimed at restoring the free movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz. This initiative comes as the U.S. military imposes a blockade on Iranian ports, blocking around 2,000 merchant ships. The mission, which will be strictly defensive, will deploy when the situation allows, distinct from the belligerents. The strait has been disrupted since February 28 following Israeli-American strikes that resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
