Childhood Diabetes in Senegal: 1736 Children Monitored, but 2 Out of 3 Remain Undiagnosed

At the 12th National Congress of the Senegalese Society of Pediatrics (SOSEPED), Professor Babacar Niang reported that the number of children followed for diabetes increased from 250 in 2018 to over 1,736 currently. Despite these advances, two-thirds of diabetic children in Senegal remain undiagnosed due to a lack of specialists and insufficient access to care in several regions. The specialist emphasized the medical urgency of childhood diabetes and praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health and partners.
