Dozens of schoolchildren, between 35 and 43, were abducted on Friday from the primary school in the village of Mussa, in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria. The attack occurred shortly after Nigerien soldiers left the area, and witnesses report that the insurgents arrived on motorcycles and abducted children in less than 30 minutes. This region is already facing increasing insecurity due to violence from jihadist groups and bandits.
